Around Wheeling
The rural paradise of Innsifree Farms is easily accessible to travelers via Interstate 70 where it passes through Wheeling West Virginia, just fifteen minutes from our location.
Families living in the Midwest and East Coast often select Innisfree as a half-way point to meet for reunions and celebrations. We are about an hour from downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and only 45 minutes or so from its international airport. Columbus Ohio is about two hours to our West. But historic Wheeling, WV is just down the road.
Wheeling West Virginia has been the capital of two different states, a thriving 19th and 20th century center of industry, and once considered the gateway to the West. It's iconic suspension bridge the largest suspension bridge in the world until the Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1851. Oglebay Park is one the country's best public parks, The downtown district and her neighborhoods have been cited as one of America's best revival stories, and the Wheeling region is deep in American history, going back to the first push into the Western Frontier. Bethany College, West Liberty University, and Wheeling College are all just a short drive away

Oglebay Park
Oglebay Park is often the main reason people come stay with us. Oglebay is a self-funded public park with tons of activities and history. Its renowned Christmas "Festival of Lights" brings travelers from all over the East Coast and even Canada, and its golf courses are first-rate. Their website will tell you more - but we recommend the Good Zoo, a nice dinner or weekend brunch at Ihlenfeld Dining Room, Speidel Golf Course, the Spa at the Oglebaty Lodge, as well as the new ropes course.
Out of the driveway, you'll turn left. The road ends at Rt 88. Take another left, and you’ll come to the park in about a mile.
Centre Market and Coleman's Fish
Famous Coleman's Fish is an open converted train station filled with art vendors and a variety of local delicacies.
Encircling Colemans are two small streets lined with unique shops and local goods. The area is called Centre Market and is about a 20 minute drive from Innisfree. Some of our favorite stores there are Paradox Book Shop, Puddleducks for esoterica, SMART for science projects and toys, and the Wheeling Brewing Company for local beers and modern food.

Golf Courses
There are four local public courses, two championship layouts at Speidel at Oglebay, the Crispin executive course at Oglebay, and nine holes at Wheeling Park in the city. Guests at Innisfree's Cabin at Lake Richard can also warm up and hone their short game hitting balls from two tee boxes over the lake to a target. Bring your own balls though -- we ran out a long time ago and only a scuba diver will find them now.
First State Capital
West Virginia First State Capital was also the Capital of Virginia at one time. It is in downtown Wheeling and a great visit for Civil War aficionados.

The Palace of Gold
The Palace of Gold is perched on a secluded hilltop in West Virginia, the Palace of Gold has the feel of a great, glittery treasure ship that somehow drifted off the set of a Bollywood production. A beautiful religious monument, and a wholly unique experience off a back country road in Marshall County, West Virginia.
Cabela's
The hunting, fishing and camping superstore is located just ten minutes away in the Highlands shopping development.

Moundsville Penitentiary
Another historic monument the now-decommissioned penitentiary gives regular tours regarding its famous inmates and executions and has a Halloween haunted house that has to be seen to be believed. The indigenous burial mound across the street from the penitentiary dates back over 2000 years.
What more could you want out of a haunted weekend?
